a blog thanksgiving

vintage printable

i am hosting 8 on thursday for thanksgiving. i love throwing a dinner party, but i am a little out of my element without my wedding china (i was a southern bride after all), my food processor, my cookbooks and an american-standard oven.  first of all, a 9×12 pyrex isn’t sold here, and it wouldn’t fit into my oven even if i had one! it’s like a large microwave…

my kitchen is a tiny galley, so i knew i had to be creative with the menu. i wanted everything to be make-ahead. allison (bff) is coming with her charming fiancé, so i didn’t want to be tied up in the kitchen when all i wanted to do was drink whiskey with her and gossip. as i was wrapping up the final dishes today, i realized that 98% of my dishes came from a blog. i love the internet. i thought i’d share my menu in case any of you are scrambling for a last-minute dish. Continue Reading

adventures in paleo

i have a confession to make. i’m kind of on a diet. the “paleo” diet. there are some convincing scientific reasons for this diet – you eat like a caveman – hunter/gatherer (read more about it here). but truthfully, i am on this diet because a different kind of scientific method:  i saw a friend at a wedding and she looked amazing. i asked her secret. she described a mixture of this diet and high-intensity cardio.

SO i’m a few weeks in and i’ve gathered some great recipes! thought i’d share two that i keep coming back to.

JUST like a larabar – except you can make it in your food processor! so cheap and so easy!

simple and delicious! and with a bag of veggie stirfry this is on the table in 30 minutes – no joke!
