a blog thanksgiving

vintage printable

i am hosting 8 on thursday for thanksgiving. i love throwing a dinner party, but i am a little out of my element without my wedding china (i was a southern bride after all), my food processor, my cookbooks and an american-standard oven.  first of all, a 9×12 pyrex isn’t sold here, and it wouldn’t fit into my oven even if i had one! it’s like a large microwave…

my kitchen is a tiny galley, so i knew i had to be creative with the menu. i wanted everything to be make-ahead. allison (bff) is coming with her charming fiancé, so i didn’t want to be tied up in the kitchen when all i wanted to do was drink whiskey with her and gossip. as i was wrapping up the final dishes today, i realized that 98% of my dishes came from a blog. i love the internet. i thought i’d share my menu in case any of you are scrambling for a last-minute dish.

A BLOG THANKSGIVING

all of these recipes are from a blog – because what else was i supposed to do?!

disclaimer: this menu does not promote any sort of farm-to-table lifestyle - we will be eating this meal crammed in my mini-living room on very classy paper plates.

~ menu ~

sweet potato crackers topped with rosemary & black pepper

goat cheese + cranberry cherry relish

turkey will be picked up from whole foods camden (don’t judge – tiny oven!)

mom’s mac & cheese (she made & froze it for me while she was here… angel)

make-ahead mashed potatoes

make-ahead green bean casserole (i had to pay £4 for my imported french-fried onions… sigh)

shepherd’s pie with carrot + sweet potato mash (a bit non-traditional but i had all the stuff a few wks ago)

fresh greens in simple vinaigrette + avocado + cucumber + green apple + fresh herbs

paleo butternut chocolate chip bars

butternut spice cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting

expert wine pairings from the bottom shelf of the grocery store (sold in giant plastic bottles)

thankful for all y’all! hope you have a blessed day with family + friends!

Hmmm, I’ll agree you’re out of your element there. But we’re trying to figure out a similar feat here in Uganda. Girl, I think you have it Eeeee-Zeeee! Happy turkey day and we’re thankful for you and Will.
