26

where has the summer gone? what has happened? will & i are in mississippi (!) and my new baby nephew just left my arms. life is very good. i had a house show at my mom’s in gulfport on sunday where i showcased several new songs with a few string players and my brother & sister-in-law accompanying me. heading to nashville tomorrow to celebrate a best friend’s wedding and wrap up my new album! whew, it’s been a whirlwind summer but filled with lots of fun, exciting things.

but did you know? it’s my birthday week! i turn 26 on sunday. here are a few things on my wishlist… since moving to london, i’m scouting some cold-weather basics:  city-approved booties, a sleek coat and thin, cozy cashmere. andddd after all of the po-boys i am eating, i will be in need of some healthy inspiration in the kitchen.

words to live by: make waves

waves

Trying to make waves in my corner of the ocean. Maybe you can feel the sway.

“Creative work is not a selfish act or a bid for attention on the part of the actor. It’s a gift to the world and every being in it. Don’t cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you’ve got.” – Steven Pressfield, The War of Art

london lately: windsor castle

windsor1

There is a castle on every corner in this country. But this one is definitely one you should go to. And it’s really easy to get to on the train!

The Queen lives here sometimes, so it’s decent. Also, did you know that if you work here you live on the grounds? How do I get on that list?

We arrived to the changing of the guard, complete with a brass band. It started a little after 11 if you’d like to be there for that. There are lots of really nice pubs around the castle and great shopping in the train station. It’s a quaint little English country town – plan a whole day to explore the castle and the high street.

You can take the train from Paddington, and if you get a fast train you can be there in 40 minutes. The station is right next to the castle; it’s such an easy day trip.
