blog highlights – 2012

this blog is my creative catch-all. just like an athlete goes to the gym everyday, this blog is my attempt at a consistent creative workout. in order to write my best songs, i have to be processing ideas and thinking out loud – that’s just how my brain works. i love art and its power to explore your emotions and take you to a place you never imagined. i love art that startles you with beauty and reveals it in the strangest places. that’s the art i’m trying to make and i really gotta work at it if i’m going to get there.

this has been a year of inspiration, discipline and courage for me. thank you to my readers – i hope you find something here that can inspire and challenge you. in 2013, this blog will become more about writing, workflow, ideas, advice and new music! don’t get me wrong, i’m still going to post gift guides and the occasional style update, but the conversation will shift a little. hope you’ll chime in. if you ever have any suggestions, ideas, comments, please email me and let me know what you’d like to see here. i would love to hear from you.

what a year it’s been // part two

if you missed the (very extensive) part one recap of my year, i shared everything up until our move to london. it is wild to see it all laid out… i have had a crazy year but the best part was putting all of our possessions in the attic and moving to london (explore all my london posts here).

we landed at heathrow on the morning september 9th. our flight was early even though we had to RUN through the boston airport. we were without phones, so i don’t have a lot of photos from this time. our sweet friend milla picked us up from the airport with all of our stuff and kept us company while we waited for check-in. our relocation service put us up in a short term rental in notting hill while we looked for our flat.

what a year it’s been // part one

2012 has been nonstop! i can’t believe all the places we’ve been this year. it was fun for me to put together a timeline – this has been one of those years i’ll never forget. warning: there are lots of photos and hyperlinks!

over mlk weekend, will & i took a relaxing weekend away at cloudland canyon as our christmas gift to each other. in march we visited new york city for the first time and spent easter in toronto, trying to decide where we should move.

at the end of april we finally decided where we were moving and threw a cheeky “reveal party.” our closest friends brought drinks that corresponded to where they thought we should move. i drank canadian beer, manhattans and a pimm’s cup – but the pimm’s won – we told everyone we were taking a big jump across the pond and moving to london in september.
