i’m not going to try and get sappy… but for the last 6 years or so, i’ve been going over to this orange victorian in east nashville to make music with john (of fleming&john). at the international house of fleming (IHOF), john produced my last record and co-wrote 2 of the songs with me, and now we’re wrapping up another Alva Leigh EP and continuing to write songs for film/TV.
but i got way more than just the songs from IHOF- it’s been my safe haven, my creative incubator, and, truthfully, my second home. i saw the world through jewel-toned colored glasses (literally – see decor below). i ate free meals, did loads of laundry, held babies, saw several choreographed dances (see blonde below). most of all – john & fleming have mentored me through the hard times and the good, and they will always be nashville to me.
some shots from life at IHOF
if you are an artist, looking for someone/somewhere to do your next record, look no further. i can rave about him all day. and MAYBE if you’re lucky, fleming will make you lunch.
i’m excited to announce that i’m wrapping up a covers album with mike odmark at gray matters. it will be out in the fall!
this project began as a way to hang out and play music with friends before i left for london. over five different evenings, i recorded some of my favorite songs with the nashville artists i love. we showed up at the studio in the afternoon, planned out the arrangement and recorded it that night. it was a lotta fun! stay tuned for more details!
